The world expects grief to have a timeline. It doesn’t. Maybe it’s a death — fresh, or years old and still sharp. Maybe it’s a homeland, a marriage, a future you were promised, or someone you love who’s still alive but no longer reachable. Grief that won’t fit the tidy “stages” can leave you feeling broken, when you’re only human.
I’m Dr. Samuel. I have sat with grief where most people never will — through twelve years with the Red Crescent in refugee camps, where loss wasn’t an occasional tragedy but the air everyone breathed.
