The same fight, on repeat. Or a silence that’s louder than the fighting.
You’ve tried talking. You’ve tried not talking. Maybe you walk on eggshells; maybe you brace for the argument before it even starts. It might be a marriage that’s gone quiet in the wrong way, a teenager you can’t reach, or parents whose worry turned into control. Or it might be a home holding something heavier — a partner who came back from service a different person, a family bending around someone’s addiction, a closeness that war or immigration took and never gave back. You’re not broken — and it’s usually not too late. But some things can’t be fixed by working on yourself alone. They have to be worked out in the relationship.

I’m Dr. Samuel. When you call, you reach me directly — no secretary, no intake desk. For over a decade I’ve sat with people through the hardest things a family can carry. I spent twelve years with the Red Crescent, inside refugee camps and veterans’ clinics across three countries — not reading about trauma from a textbook, but in the room with it. Today I work within Fraser Health Authority with 50+ active clients, as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with a doctorate in health sciences. I work in both English and Persian (فارسی). Very few clinicians in Vancouver have stood where I’ve stood — and it’s why families who’ve been told “there’s nothing more we can do” still find their way to me.
The families I work with
Often they’re not the families a therapy brochure pictures:
- The wife, husband, or children of a veteran who came home carrying the war — the ones living around the silences, the anger, the sleepless nights, and the anxiety that never fully stands down.
- Families bending their whole lives around a loved one’s addiction — exhausted, guilty, and quietly grieving someone who is still alive.
- Families who survived war, displacement, and refugee camps, and are still trying to find their way back to each other.
You won’t have to explain the weight of any of it to me. I’ve been in the room with it for years.
“Working with Dr. Sam has completely rewritten the story of my relationship with my daughter and son. Our family was on the verge of falling apart.”

Most people arrive carrying something heavy and leave breathing easier — talking again, sharing a room without the silence, able to be in the same house as their teenager without a door slamming. The work isn’t about winning the argument. It’s about getting the closeness back.
Worried your partner won’t come? Start on your own — that’s normal, and it still helps. Afraid it’s too late for you two? Most people who feel that way are wrong about it. Not sure what to say when you call? Just say “I saw your website.” That’s all you need.
Your first 20 minutes are completely free — no forms, no commitment, no pressure to book. Just a real conversation, in English or فارسی.
