The same patterns keep repeating — schema therapy helps you understand why
Most people who reach out here don’t feel ready to talk on the phone. Start whichever way feels safest.

You keep ending up in the same place. The same kind of relationship, the same self-doubt, the same feeling that you’re not quite enough no matter what you achieve. These aren’t random. They’re often “schemas” — deep patterns formed early in life that quietly run the show. Schema therapy helps you see them clearly and finally change them.

Does this sound like you?
- You achieve a lot but still feel like you’re not enough, or that you’ll be “found out.”
- You keep choosing partners or friends who leave you feeling the same old way.
- You swing between putting everyone else first and feeling resentful and drained.
- Criticism — even small — cuts deeper than it should.
- You sense the roots go back a long way, but you don’t know how to reach them.
What schema therapy is
Schema therapy blends cognitive, attachment, and experiential work to reach the patterns that ordinary talk therapy sometimes can’t. Rather than only managing symptoms, we work with the “modes” and early schemas driving them — so change holds instead of fading. It’s especially helpful for long-standing anxiety, shame, depression, and relationship patterns that keep repeating.

FAQ — Schema Therapy
How is schema therapy different from regular CBT?
CBT targets current thoughts and behaviours; schema therapy goes further, working with the lifelong patterns and unmet early needs underneath them.
How long does it take?
Focused work can help within a few months; deeper schema change is longer-term. We set the pace together.
Is it covered by insurance?
Sessions are covered by most extended health plans and ICBC, FNHA, CVAP, VAC, and RCMP. Ask on your free call.
Do I need a diagnosis?
No. If the same patterns keep repeating, that’s reason enough.
Who you’re talking to
I’m Samuel Ezzatilord, PhD, RCC, CCC, LMCC. Over 25 years I’ve worked with trauma, anxiety, and relationships — from Red Crescent refugee camps and veterans’ clinics to community mental health here in Vancouver. I won’t be shocked by what you bring me, and I won’t rush you.
As an Iranian-Canadian clinician working in both English and Farsi, I understand the weight of آبرو, the pull between cultures, and how hard it can be to say “I need help” out loud. We go at your pace, find what’s really driving things, and work through it together.
And no — your problem doesn’t need to be a crisis to belong here. Most of the people Samuel sees are simply tired, stuck, or quietly carrying something heavy.
What happens when you call?
