A Muslim Clinician and Scholar — Trained in the West, Rooted in Faith
Dr. Samuel EzzatiLord, PhD, RCC, CCC, LMCC holds a doctorate in health sciences and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Canadian Certified Counsellor practising from Vancouver, Canada. His 25+ years of clinical work include twelve years with the Red Crescent, serving in refugee camps and veterans’ clinics across three countries — work carried out within Muslim communities, in the language of faith, family and honour.
As a Muslim himself, Dr. Samuel understands the questions many believers bring to therapy: Will a therapist respect my deen? Will I have to explain — or defend — my values? Is seeking help a weakness of faith? In his practice the answer is simple: your faith is a foundation to build on, never an obstacle to work around. Therapy here complements your relationship with Allah — it does not compete with it. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that Allah has not sent down an illness without also sending down its cure — seeking help is an act of faith, not a departure from it.
Clinically, sessions draw on evidence-based Western approaches — CBT, IFS (Internal Family Systems), schema therapy and trauma-informed care — delivered in a way that is faith-informed and culturally fluent. You will never be asked to compromise your beliefs, your modesty or your boundaries.

Our Commitments to You
Prayer, fasting, modesty and family obligations are never treated as problems to fix. They are part of who you are.
Your therapist is in Canada — entirely outside your community, mosque and workplace. Nothing is shared with anyone, ever.
Whatever you bring — doubt, anger, shame, exhaustion — you will be met with respect and clinical skill, not sermons.
Appointments arranged around Gulf evenings and weekends, prayer times, and Ramadan.

Common Questions
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Sessions are private, held over secure video, and nothing is shared with family, employers or anyone else. Dr. Samuel practises from Canada — entirely outside your community — which many clients in the Gulf consider an added layer of privacy.
Is therapy compatible with my faith?
Yes. Seeking help is an act of self-care and responsibility, not a lack of tawakkul. Our work supports your faith and never asks you to set it aside.
What about the time difference?
Dr. Samuel practises from Canada and reserves appointment times that fall in the evening and weekend hours for the Gulf states.
What language are sessions in?
English or Farsi — whichever you are most comfortable in.
Will my boundaries and modesty be respected?
Always. Professional, respectful boundaries are foundational to this work — you will never need to explain or justify them.
What are the fees?
Fees are quoted in Canadian dollars and confirmed during your free consultation, before any commitment.
Take the First Step — Privately
One confidential message is all it takes to begin.
Who you’re talking to
I’m Samuel Ezzatilord, PhD, RCC, CCC, LMCC. Over 25 years I’ve worked with trauma, anxiety, and relationships — from Red Crescent refugee camps and veterans’ clinics to community mental health here in Vancouver. I won’t be shocked by what you bring me, and I won’t rush you.
As an Iranian-Canadian clinician working in both English and Farsi, I understand the weight of آبرو, the pull between cultures, and how hard it can be to say “I need help” out loud. We go at your pace, find what’s really driving things, and work through it together.
And no — your problem doesn’t need to be a crisis to belong here. Most of the people Samuel sees are simply tired, stuck, or quietly carrying something heavy.
What happens when you call?
Dr. Samuel answers personally. No secretary, no forms, no gatekeeping.
Ask anything: fees, insurance, whether this approach fits you. Completely confidential.
Book a first session — or don’t. Either way you leave with clarity and zero obligation.
Fees and expenses are covered by ICBC, CVAP, FNHA, IFHP, RCMP, VAC, and most other insurers, and direct billing is available.
